Terms of Sale

These terms apply when you buy the Board Edition or the Professional Edition on this site. They explain your purchase and online access. The licensing terms explain how you may use the resources. You agree to both at checkout. Organization licenses and independent assessments have separate written agreements.

The publisher

Daniel Johns, publishing as The Assurance Line, sells the editions and grants the license that comes with them.

Your edition and access period

Your purchase licenses the edition to the person named at checkout. It includes 12 months of online access, starting when access is provided, and every update published during that period. The Professional Edition includes everything in the Board Edition.

You pay once, with no subscription or automatic renewal. To continue online access, buy the same edition again with the same email address: that renews your existing access, adding 12 months to its current end date (or 12 months from the day you buy, if it has already ended), so renewing early loses no time. A refund of a renewal takes back only the time it added. Saved or printed copies of the version supplied at purchase remain usable under the licensing terms.

How you may use it

You may use the edition in your own work and for internal governance, as the licensing terms describe. A director may use a personal Board Edition across their board roles. You may share attributed excerpts and completed assessments, checklists, and reports in board papers and internal reports. Your sign-in and the complete resources are personal to you; do not share them. Each additional user needs an individual license or an organization license.

Consulting and services to others

Consulting, assessments, training, and other services for external clients require a separate written license. So does using the resources as the basis of a product or service sold to others. Arrange that license before the work begins. Contact us about client use.

Price and payment

Prices are in US dollars and shown on the Pricing page. The total, including any applicable taxes, is shown before you pay. Our payment provider handles payment on a secure page. We do not see or store your card details.

Getting access

After payment is confirmed, we send a sign-in link to the email address you entered at checkout. No password is needed. Each sign-in lasts up to 30 days on that device, within your online access period. Request another link from the sign-in page whenever you need one. Use an email address you can access and keep your email account secure.

We limit sign-in requests and the number of devices using each license to protect your access. If your email address changes or contains a mistake, contact us. We may need to verify your purchase before updating it.

Upgrading

We may offer Board Edition customers an upgrade to the Professional Edition for the difference in price. Any offer will state its availability period. An upgrade starts a new 12-month access period from the upgrade date, unless the access you already have runs longer, in which case your current end date stays.

Problems and refunds

If you cannot access your edition or something is wrong with your purchase, contact us for help. Any refund we agree to beyond what the law requires covers the full price paid, and your access ends when it is issued. We do not offer partial refunds in those cases. This does not limit any refund or other remedy you are entitled to under consumer law.

If a payment is disputed or reversed through your card issuer, access is suspended while the dispute is open, and ends if the payment is reversed.

Ending access

We may end access if you share it or use the resources outside your license. We will tell you why. In those circumstances, a refund is provided only where required by law.

Your consumer rights

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy you have under consumer law that cannot lawfully be excluded, including any guarantee that applies to what you buy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms for future purchases. Your purchase remains subject to the terms you accepted at checkout. The date above shows when this page last changed. Our Privacy page explains how we handle your name, email address, and purchase record.
